The Shotgun in the defense role is often misunderstood. This class is an introduction to the use of a shotgun in a defensive role. It is gear at the basic level to provide the new student, with an understanding of the operations, manipulation, and engagement of a shotgun as a weapon platform. This class is for the new shooter who has never used a shotgun or has little experience and to dispel myths and fears, regarding this weapon.

- Reloading and malfunctions
- Engagement drills
- Care and cleaning
Ammo requirement: 60 rounds of Birdshot, 5 Rounds of Buckshot, and 5 rounds of slugs.
Defensive Shotgun is a prerequisite for the Combat Shotgun Course.
Instructor Bio’s:


Served 30 years in California Law enforcement, with assignments in Field Training, Patrol Rifle Specialist, Gangs, Covert Investigations, Intelligence and the Bay Area Regional Terrorism Task Force as a TLO. He was a member of the Bureau of Investigation, Surveillance and Apprehension Detail. He concurrently served in the U.S. Army, for over 25 years, on both active and reserve status. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3, whose duties included Sniper Team Leader, Criminal Terrorism Investigator (CITF), Protective Service Detail for the Secretary of Defense and Firearms Instructor. He worked as a DoD Contractor in the Middle East, training Police Counter-terrorism Units. His deployments include Panama, Columbia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait .
